INDIA: Jaipur

My favorite gent on "tea corner".

Jaipur, the “Pink City”.  Home of the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Wind).  The Nahargarh  Fort.  The Jantar Mantar Observatory.  It is the capital of Rajasthan.  It is also reported to be the happiest of cities in India (2011 survey).  For me, it was a city in which to relax after the excitement of the Pushkar Mela.  And a city for street shooting . . . .

Walking through the streets of Jaipur, I came upon so many open and friendly people.  Sometimes, just holding a camera gets you access that you would not normally get.  I was welcomed into storefronts, street stalls, chai shops and sometimes, just into a gathering a friends in an alley, doorway or on a corner.  Each group I met, through stilted half-English, half-Hindu conversation, showed me a bit of themselves and their lives.

Enjoy the images,

Lisa

One more at tea corner. . .

Hanging out across from the Hawa Mahal.

"Peace be with you".

Timeless face.

Spice seller.

The buttonhole man.

Apothecary shop.

Posing at the marble works.

Three generations.

Working copper into pots.

More timeless beauty.

Two buddies off for a ride.

What a treat - a street performance by a wedding band on Brahampuri Street.

And a little posing afterwards.

Brahampuri Street storefront.

The cyclo driver.

Street food and a huge smile.
